Back to our Favorite Place

At long last, we finally returned to Greenfield Village today - one of Christian and my favorite places in the world.  This historic village crafted by Henry Ford has everything a person could want and Christian and I have spent many, many happy days there.  This week while Benjamin and Bella are at scout camp, we decided to venture back for the first time post-covid.  We knew it wouldn't be the same as it used to be - still many things closed, no model T rides, no live entertainment and music, etc, but we missed it and decided to do what we could.  We didn't regret it.  The weather was perfect and the few things we did get to do and see were as wonderful as we remembered.  We visited our two favorite farms and introduced Peter to all the animals - he loved the rooster best.  Hearing him make his little rooster call each time the rooster made his was adorable.  He also loved the horse-drawn carriages and the carousel.  Christian wanted to enter more historic homes this time than he ever has.  My little guy is growing up.  No longer is the playground and the train the main attraction.  It was really nice going in and talking about the history with him.  Of course, we spent time enjoying the coolness of the grape arbor at the freed slave home and marveling at the changes that had come over our favorite picnic spot by the pond (all the fish are gone!).  It was a wonderful afternoon and I hope that soon everything will be restored and we can enjoy the place fully again.  Henry Ford, I thank you again for this little piece of paradise you created.
